Located on a rocky hillside bench, bisected by an intermittent stream and constrained by access and setback issues, the mass of this large home above Ketchum and the Wood River valley, was determined by its difficult site. Admiring the simplicity and directness English country cottages, the client's asked that we use them as a model for our approach. Using large amounts of stone, recycled timbers, stucco and other natural materials helps the home achieve a sense of authenticity and blend into its setting. The plan of the home is organized around a central linear gallery space which divides the public spaces along the west front and the more private spaces set into the hill on the eastern side.
